The Newark Rod & Gun Club was established in 1939 and incorporated in May 1940. Official opening of the first Trap and Skeet fields was July 21, 1940. The first club house, replacing an old trailer that was brought to the site, was officially opened on November 16, 1941. Electricity was installed in 1946. The present clubhouse was built in 1985 by club members, and the old building was removed in a controlled burn. New trap houses were built in 1981. Prior to the club house, board meetings were held at the City Hall, and latter at the Legion Hall in Newark. Our club currently has four Trap & four Skeet fields, along with a dedicated pistol range, with target boards at 25 and 50 feet. We also have a rifle range with targets at 100 and 200 yards. New benches were added under our covered enclosure
